Community Ventures Corporation
The Enterprise Group Community Ventures Corporation was originally established in 1983 as the Jackson Alliance for Business Development, a 501c(3) non-profit corporation designed to promote business development and education in Jackson County. The Enterprise Group of Jackson, Inc. (EG) was founded in 1997 as the economic development entity for Jackson County and is as a 501c(6) non-profit corporation with a mission to build and sustain a vibrant economy, thereby improving the communities quality of life. After formation of the Enterprise Group, the Jackson Alliance for Business Development was renamed the Enterprise Group Community Ventures Corporation. The goals of the EGs Community Ventures Corporation continue to expand as the community grows.
The Objectives and Purpose of the EGs Community Ventures Corporation is to:
Educate the business community via an aggressive marketing campaign;
Encourage economic, industrial and cultural development to create employment;
Promote sustainable reuse and redevelopment of abandoned, contaminated or obsolete industrial properties;
Promote business retention and expansion;
Provide support to municipal units to achieve EG CVCs objectives and purposes;
Maintain and operate the ‘I Can Make It!’ camp, an educational initiative supported by area manufacturers to help children learn about math and science;
Maintain and operate the Academy for Manufacturing Careers, a certified U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program, to educate, train and help incumbent and potential workers acquire the skills and proficiency required by the modern manufacturing workplace; and
Promote art and cultural development within the community.
