To Experience Jackson County, MI
Jackson County is rich with history and heritage. Quaint towns dot the landscape surrounding the City of Jackson. Some of the oldest and most beautiful homes in Michigan are still standing in Jackson. The city also has a very historied past, playing instrumental roles in the Underground Railroad, the Civil War and founding the Republican Party. Jackson was once a major rail hub for the state and is known as the ‘crossroads of Michigan.’ It now lies on I-94, US 127, M-50 and M-60 interchanges along with numerous rail lines, making Jackson County a great location for both businesses and residents alike.
Jackson County is home to some of the best public and private golf courses in Michigan. In fact, there are more holes of golf per capita here than any other county in the United States. There are also over 17,000 acres of some of the best kept public parks around to enjoy recreational activities outdoors.
Family, fun and relaxation are also highly treasured here. During the summer, there are five major festivals that entice Jackson County on any given weekend. The Rose Festival in June kicks off the festival season with a wide array of events including the Rosequeen Scholarship Pageant. The Hot Air Jubilee and RaceWeek take place during July and include spectacular aerial and ground shows. In August, Jackson takes friends and family on a trip through the past with the four-week Michigan Shakespeare Festival and Cascades Civil War Muster, the largest Civil War Muster in the Midwest.
Visit the Jackson Convention Visitors Bureau to learn more about these and the other great things Jackson has to offer. Enjoy your stay at the place we like to call home.
